Welcome to the forum!! I have owned several MSA D-10s over the years, I used to sell them in the mid to late 70s at a store I was working at. I owned 3 different wood models and three formica models. The first new one I ordered was a green wooden one (Reece's suggestion to me) but the formica ones always sounded better to my ear. I put Lawrence 710s in the last one I owned and it sounded pretty good, but TOO HEAVY!! I currently have a white formica one I bought from Bobbe Seymour that was a "basket case" he was selling parts off of out of his back room. It is currently being put back together by a friend of mine. I think I'll try True Tone pups this time. Would like to play one of the new ones someday, I tried to play Johnny Cox's blue one, but was not set up anywhere close to what I am used to!

Eight and eight on my old "Classic" (probably too many), and eight and seven on my new Millennium (still probably too many).

My Classic SS has 8 and 8. You can see a picture of it in "Buy and Sell" under the "Vinyl Covers post".

Paul, I live out in the country near Fairmount, IL but we have two music stores in Champaign-Urbana. (www.corsonmusic.com) My wife and I are playing a duo gig at the Palatine legion next Friday, how close are you to that?

My Classic SS has 8+4 and i wouldn't want anymore than that. Can't handle them anyway.
You're supposed to play it with your hands, not with your knees.
What i would like is a pair of True Tone pickups. I never liked humbuckers very much. Otherwise i think it's a fine guitar.
