I had not heard Lloyd play live in many years. We missed his set on Friday night and everyone said it was outstanding. However, Lloyd's performance on Saturday was worth the trip for me to St. Louis.
I went down to get a close up photo of him and got about 10 feet in front of his steel sitting on the floor, it was the best seat in the house. Everything he played was flawless, tasty and you could tell his heart was really into his playing. It was watching and listening to a Master Artist at work and an experience I'll never forget. The accompanying musicians played great as well.
If you haven't heard Lloyd's new Steel CD titled "Revisted" you need to order a copy. You will not be disappointed. His music will be sure to touch your soul.

| Although everyone played and sounded fantastic, I think Lloyd stole the show Saturday------with a single 10 Sho-Bud, an old Sho-Bud pot pedal and a Fender amp. |

I just played my CD again, and it's hard to miss somebody that "plays from the heart". Even on a worn out Sho~Bud and an old tube amplifier. I think I'd die if he got even one more knee lever.
That Tommy White Vid he did shows the whole thing pretty much.
I can't explain it either.
My Feed server was swamped so I heard bits and pieces.
I caught Mr E's "Wills' Point" and it was GREAT. Blue Jade reminded me why I love playing steel.
Also Dag Wolf. I think somebody else remarked on his "tone". Uff Da!
I too will be in line for a CD or DVD.
Maybe I'll make it next year.
Even Christmas looks a long way off for me..

Actually, Lloyd played his LDG Sho-Bud into a Sho-Bud volume pedal into a Boss RV-3 pedal in stereo into a pair of the house Peavey Nashville 1000's. Though Lloyd did comment during his show on the recording he recently did with a Fender amp.

| I was in the front row on the floor right in front for Lloyd and Buddys sets on Saturday night. I wouldn't say that Lloyds playing is as good as I've heard before but rather it's better than I ever heard him. He does the most amazing things with the 10th string and and just gets so much out of a song with bar slants that are flawless. I heard new licks I'd never heard him play before. He seems to have more passion in his playing now. If anybody out there has a recording of Lloyds Saturday night set, I wish they offer me a free copy. I'd love to hear those licks again to learn. |

Lloyd's set at the show was A-1.
Out of 4 CD's I bought at the show, Lloyd's was the one I wanted to hear again and again on the trip home.

Like so many here, Lloyd has been an idol of mine since before I ever owned a steel guitar.
The highlight of the trip was meeting him and having my picture taken with him.
This new CD is outstanding. I can't listen to it without hitting the REPEAT button on the first cut, Jukebox Charlie. The funny thing is I can't remember that song; was it a hit for Del Reeves??

PS: The picture of Lloyd is one of the few good ones I got because I somehow slapped a big old fingerprint in the middle of my lens. | You can find the song on the Johnny Paycheck compilation called "The Real Mr. Heartache." The whole album is a humdinger with Lloyd playing some very "un-Lloydish" steel. It's the cats meow and the dogs bow wow!! |
