I just received my copy of Mike's new CD titled "Steelin' On Broadway" In a word it is Killer. If you love great ballads and soulful playing from the heart you will enjoy this CD. Mike also plays some very sassy C6th with tone to the bone! The sound tracks are awesome with great fiddle work by Jim Unger. This is a very inspiring CD to listen to as well as play along with the tracks and I highly recommend them both!

Song List:

1. They'll Never Take Her Love From Me
2. You Don't Have Very Far To Go
3. When Did You Stop Lovin' Me
4. Nobody's Darlin'
5. I'll Sail My Ship Alone
6. Slowly
7. Undo The Right
8. I Don't Need A Thing At All
9. Half A Man
10. Freddy The Freeloader

Order both the CD & Sound Tracks today!!

Being a fan of Miles Davis, I was pleased to see Freddy the Freeloader on there. I was also pleased with the whole dang album after listening to it. I can highly recommend this to everyone.

Joey, I don't care where you put this thread. Mike's CD will remain in steady rotation on my CD player. It's a good 'un!
As far as a review: great song selection, good playing by the supporting musicians, great touch and tone on the steel, and drips of "SOUL"!

P.S. Mike, I always thought you and Willie Cantu were the backbone of that band at the Palace.
Keep up the good pickin' and the faith!

I got a copy of Mike's CD and rhythm tracks on Steeling On Broadway at the Mtn.City Jam and WOW, it blew me away. Guys, if you don't have a copy of this, you owe it to yourself to get one. I haven't been this excited over a Steel CD in a long time. Mike's playing is as good as it gets and the back up and recording is excellent.
My favorite cut is "When Did You Stop Loving Me". Mike does a little pull off thing on the first fret that is great (At least it sounds to me like that's what he is doing)How about it Mike?
Mike has other CDs also and I'm sorry I didn't look them over.
That PP Emmons doesn't sound too bad either.

Bless your heart David. Thanks for the nice words about the project. And yes you're right about the pull-off on the first fret. That's one of those things that alot of us have been doing so long we don't even think about it.
I hope to see you again soon.
Take care,

Mike Sweeney

I got the CD and tracks at the Mtn City Jam. The steel work is outstanding and I have enjoyed listening to every cut (and trying to play with the tracks). Keep up the good work, Mike.
