Here is a little treat for all you Al Marcus fans out there. Al now has a web page with some of the great old photos and memories of his mucic career! Al's Grandaughter's husband, Russ Yoder, set up a small page for
Al, a couple of years ago. I have been helping Al add photos and tweak it a little, and Al has asked me to formally introduce it to the Forum. Take a look, and tell Al what you think! Here is the link:

What's doin' in Akron.
It's Al the musical packrat, never throwing out a picture or a set list.
Love that L7. I played the Inkspots lead player's L7 a few years ago, not the rhythm / singers, and it was such a nice guitar.
Bet you wish you still had it... unless you do !
I like the "Mariachi" Al Marcus pics too.
Wow have you had some steels in your life!
With the hair on that drummer no wonder you got the taylor topper. LOL.
Your Real Universal looks pretty cool.
Great site Al I really enjoyed it.

Bill,
Thanks for your part in making this excellent slice of history available for us. Al Marcus is one of many journeyman musicians whose stories are too often left untold. I admire him for some of the things that set him apart from many of the others: his professionalism, his approach to the instrument, his clear and articulate teaching style, his ability to make a good living and have a stable life in the music business, and reach his 80th birthday after having lived such a long and interesting life.
We love you, Al.

| Larry. I couldn't agree with you more. To me, Al Marcus is like a walking/talking musical dictionary. His knowledge of music is second to none. Albeit a humble man, he's truly a genius in the music industry if there ever was one. I am honored to know him. |

Bill Moore, you're a saint for getting Al to finally share all the goodies with us. I know how modest Al is and he would be the last to blow his own horn, but I'm sure your persistence finally won him over.
The site is just super and the pictures remind me of my teen age years and the good times for all types of music. I'm certainly glad also that Al is sharing his copedants with the rest of the steel community. I presently have the "Real Universal" with a slight modification or two, on a MSA SD-12 with 7 pedals and 4 knees on my studio guitar. This guitar will soon be outfitted with a Wallace TruTone pickup and I can't wait to get it all together.
Bill, again thanks for the insistence I know you had to exert to get him to do it.
Al, you're the greatest, and if there ever was one, a LEGEND!!

Good idea, CrowBear, I think, however, we would have to put the webpage on some other server, something like Tripod. I believe that you can have a guestbook with them. Al's page is hosted by his ISP so I don't think it is possible. I could make another page with viewer's comments, and add to it periodically. If it's OK with Al, maybe we could do that. You could e-mail comments to me, then I could put them on a guest page. Anyone else interested in signing in on this idea?
