That is correct, Tommy is back playing his Carter. This particular guitar, as I said before, really sounds good and Tommy sounds good when he plays it!
As for the reason why he is no longer playing the Millinium? That is for Tommy to answer. I just know that he really likes the particular Carter he is once again playing. I also beleive this is the same guitar that he cut his album "By Request" on. If you have the album you'll know why he likes this guitar!
By the way, if you don't have Tommy's album "By Request", then shame on you! This should be one of those albums that every steel "aficionado" should have in his collection.

I played the Opry last week and Tommy had his trusty Carter on stage. He couldn't say enough good things about it. It looks like he has talked me into ordering a single 12 to take on the road later this year. Maybe a double 12 later if things go well, which they should. It's only money, and not too much either I might add.

He played a Carter last year at the ISGC.
Thats when I bought the CD.

It still is in regular rotation on my car stereo. "Tesa's Waltz" and "Country Medley" are my favorite tracks.

I'm sure that Tommy has no complaints about the Millennium, many of us wish we had one....but, the Carter is also a "great" guitar, and it's put together and marketed by some of the greatest people in the industry! I am still amazed and happy every time I set down at my Carter at it's quality and maintenance-free operation!

I also noticed that Tommy was not wearing his black suit or his white shirt this weekend. I wonder why? Maybe he just wanted to wear a different one. Then again, maybe he just wanted to play a different guitar. I drove my Ford mini van to the Opry last night, maybe I'll drive the Lincoln tonight. Guitars are tools of choice, not obligation.

Go Johnny! What you say makes perfect sense. If Tommy likes it and he sounds good which he does, he could play a Fender 1000 for all I care. It goes to show it's not all the guitar. My comment would be that he played his hind end off. Sometimes all of us, me included, worry about the toys and not the talent. Do I make sense here?

Johnny
Good point on Tommy's choice of guitars.
It doesn't matter what he plays as long
as the guys in the control room get the
camera on him. Nothing frustrates me more
than seeing the guitar or piano when
the steel has the break.
