Travis and Marty Stuart were in Hinkley, MN last night. From where I was sitting, I could hear everything well - good balance but a little loud. When Travis introduced the band, I could only understand Steve. His last name was muffled. He was playing a white D10, doubled on dobro and slide guitar and harmony. Did an outstanding job.
Does anyone know who it is? The back up band did a prime example of passing off leads and fills. NO ONE STEPPED ON THE OTHER PLAYERS!! Keyboard, lead, fiddle, steel. Even the bass and drummer fit in .
Marty was lead, bass, drums and himself. It was nice to see a nicely dressed band. They looked as professional as they sounded.

That would have been Steve Sturm. Local boy who made the big time. He should have been playing a brand new JCH.

Les, you're right. Travis's steel guitarist is Steve Sturm. He was playin' a white JCH D-10 the last time Travis played on the Grand Ole Opry. Brett Day, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel |
