Next week I am going to attend a one week class at Jeff Newman`s.
Since I understand it isn`t too far from downtown Nashville I would be glad for some advice on who and what to go see in the evenings. If there are some acts I absolutely have to catch, please let me know.

I am also bringing my wife so if there are
places to visit during the daytime I would also like to know.
BTW - how is the weather over there in the south?

If you want to hear and buy some great country music visit the E.T.Record Shop.If you want to see where the stars are resting most of the grave yards are in or near Nash.

Mike

Who is trying to be funny???Thousands who love country music visit the graves of the stars. It becomes a spiritual trip of remembering the Greats who made country music.I have visited many graves like Little Roy Wiggins,Pete Drake, and Webb Pierce.Mike its not funny but its touching to see fans leaving flowers at their graves, realizing that they will never stand on the opry stage again. Also E.T.Record shop has great shows right after the Opry. Many people love shopping there also.

Last night I heard that a young local boy named Steven Westley I gigged with here a lot is supposed be playing at Tootsies often. I dunno, but if he is tell him that Eric West told you to request Tinkle Tinkle on your car.

Park a block away....

" I was on break, and you were in the bar...."

Uwe, I visited there last summer. Spend at least one Friday or Saturday night at the Grand Ole Opry (schedule and tickets available at their web site). Old timers here on the Forum grumble about it's decline into "modern pop country," but it's still the mother church of country music, and there is usually a mix of old timers and new comers in the show. They now have it both at the old Ryman downtown and the "new" big auditorium out at Opry Land.

For Bluegrass go to the Station Inn. For the clubs that have live country music you will have to ask around, their acts are highly variable.

Have fun.

Love to meet ya Uwe! Give me a call when your in town: (615) 885-6565

I'll be playing a show at the "Trap" on May 14 (8PM-12PM) with a new recording artist named Jay Teeter. Might even play Tootsies with Steven Wesley (per Eric West's post) as I've picked a few times with him when he works down on Broadway. Didn't know he was from Portland. Uwe tell Jeff Newman Terry Wendt says hey.

Thank you for your help everybody.
You can always count on Forumites when you need a little help with something - I just love that.
TW: Likewise - it would be fun to meet you. I`ll say hi to Jeff for you and if time permits I`ll give you a call.
Btw. when I said "next week" what I really
should have said was from the 17th and one week from that.
Someday I`d like to spend a really long vacation in Nashville doing nothing but listening to real live pros.
