Wonder if "Tippy Toeing" was recorded without shoes? Hmm...

Rick,I have found that my footwear is almost as important as my bar and picks..

Find something comfortable and that you can "feel" the pedals and roll your ankle in and stick with it..I carry my playing shoes along with all my other essentials..

I played an outdoor concert a few years back, and William Lee Golden was on the show. His steel player came out on stage and did the gig in his bare feet. I think the steel player's name was John Rich.

I think Dan Tyack plays pretty good with no shoes.

In the winter up here on the mtn I wear western boots (keeps the snow out of my shoes) but In the summer I wear shoes and It takes me a couple of weeks to get used to the change.
I like the pointed toe on the boots best, but not a new pair that won't let your ankle bend.

On Saturday I played the Williams with heavier shoes than I'm used to. The pedals are closer together than Sierra's. With the heavy soles I couldn't feel the pedals as well, and I made a number of mistakes. It was harder to rock the AB combination, too.

By the fourth set I was used to it, but it's a mistake I don't want to make again. I want to concentrate on the music, not on the muscle aspects of making it happen. I should have spent an hour doing Joe Wright's warm-up routines on that guitar with those shoes before the gig.

One year with Barbara we wore flight suits and combat boots. After a year of that I haven't had any trouble playing with any type of footwear. Did I meation the Overture was "Top Gun" . Things we do for money. Smile
