If you were using Outlook Express, the message would be in your "inbox" until you delete it. If AOL works the same way it will be in your inbox till you delete it.
If AOL works different, there should be an option to save the message to a folder, such as an archive folder (or whatever name it's given). Then when you want to send the message, you access the message and then forward it. Since it was saved to the folder, is should still be there and if you want to later forward it to someone else you can retrieve it.
