I looked at the specs and it says "midi compatible". Which would seem to indicate you have to have a midi player in order to hear anything from that program. Windows Media Player is one that will play midi files. A midi player also came with the software for my Soundblaster AWE64 sound card and most bundled software with sound cards also include a midi player. I'm not sure if RealPlayer will play midi or not.

Real Player will not read midi files in it's basic shareware configuration, but you can download plug-ins to allow it to do so. Also, you can download the latest Media Player from Microsoft.

Most sound cards have a midi driver included. If you go to Start|Settings|Control Panel|Multimedia on W'98, then click the MIDI tab, you will see what is installed to play midi files. Then go to the System Icon and look at your sound card. On my system I have a Creative Sound Blaster PCI512 installed. When I go to the Device Manager under the System Icon and click on "Sound, video, game controller" it shows the PCI512. Highlight it and select properties. Look for "systh" options. That will tell you what the sound card is set for.

Oh yeah, basic assumption is that you can currently hear other sound files.
