Hi ,
I've often sent e-mails with web-site links in them , only to have the recipient tell me that the link doesn't work . What happens is that some characters like ~ and ) often get changed to something like A+1 . This only happens very seldom , and I've been told by my own ISP that it's my problem , something to do with my computer . I don't think so and I wondering if somebody might have any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance ,
Ingo.

It looks like he is using Yahoo's mail client, unless he has the POP feature enabled. I have never had that problem, unless that is new this week .

Hi Ingo,
Eircom.net servers here in Ireland DON"T support the "Smart Quotes" generated in programes like "Quark Express" etc.
I have had this problem and found that the best way out of it is to compose in a SIMPLE word processor first and cut-paste into your e-mail prg.

Hello ,
Thank you for the replies .
I'm using outlook-express as my e-mail package for another address and that's the one with the little hiccups .
Thanks Basil , I'll do what you suggested with the cut'n'paste .
Thank you , and a very happy Easter to everyone too

Ingo...

Sometimes the operating system or ISP do not allow spaces, underlines and other characters to be used in a filename or links. They will convert it into another character it thinks it understands. I had this problem myself. I found out what was happining by compareing the original filename to what was transmitted. Something didn't like the underline that I used for word seperation in filenames. it changed them to a ~ sign.

It may be the message format. I changed mine from the default to "HTML". I don't know if it really helps but it should eliminate any compatibility problems as most will accept HTML.

Thank you Bill and Jack for the reply .
I think I'll stick with that html format as well now .
Thanks ,
Ingo .
