I just joined the "Elite" club and wuz wonderin how many others are out there? My Webb is early 80's with awesome 15" JBL and the tone selector and remote reverb are just Great.

Add me to the list. Red, #832 made in 1978 according to a date on the circuit board inside. I am running a 12" 4ohm BW speaker.

The 6-14E Webb is my main workhorse amp. Sounds great and cuts in any situation. It is also very low maintainence.

My 6-14E was new in 1978 (#749) and was the replacement for my Twin JBL-15 which I recently re-acquired. I also have the smaller cabinet Webb GP-14 w/12" JBL.

Number 969 for me, 1978. Played by Weldon Myrick at a steel seminar in Minneapolis before I owned it, so it came with some serious good ju-ju.

I just aquired my first Webb about a month ago after wanting one for over 20 years. I've only gigged it a couple times, but I really do like it. Mine is about a '78 model in red.

I've had my Webb 614E for about 6 months now. It's the best sounding Amp I've ever hooked a Steel Guitar to. Mine is a black 79 or 80 model that once belonged to the late Don West. He abused it and didn't take very good care of the amp because it was mighty nasty from nicotine when I brought it home. Since then it's been cleaned up, sanatized, and armoralled. . . .sure smells ahellofalot better now!
I Never could afford a new Webb and always thought they were way over priced. But if you can get a good used one, go for it!
Also I think the front panel pilot lights on Webb's are neat to look at when the Amp is turned on.

In 1994 I read a little commercial in the Guitar Player:" Webb-Amp, Play the Best" and I ordered one with 220 Volt for Europe. Today I knew: "It is the Best".

I got one just a couple of weeks ago, and am proud to be added to the list. I love it. It's an early 80's 614-E, and I probly paid too much for it, but I generally try to buy-high, and sell-low anyway. Seems to be a pattern forming there. Anyway, I do really love the amp. The day I got it, I took her out on a job and plugged straight into the amp with no effects, save a little reverb from the amp. It was awesome.
I've recently discovered that it sounds equally awesome with my 6 string, and I've started jacking around with fiddle lately, and damn if that thing don't sound pretty good thru that Webb as well. I don't think I could ask for more. Even tho I paid too much, I got the best amp I've ever had, and I have surely paid more for other amps, so what they hay?

First, I get the credit, or blame, for assuring Billy he should buy that amp. Billy, you've got the best amp for steels, bar none.
Mine is #752, black, probably a 1978 judging by other data posted here. Bought it new through Tom Bradshaw. Has the famous JBL K-130 speaker, reconed to 8 ohms to prevent fuzz tone blowouts. Did have a capacitor go out in 1979, unfortunately right before a short road tour in Canada, that created some logistical hassles. Other than that, very trouble-free and tone-yummy. |
