The fender neck switch will not work in the center position. I checked it and nothing is broken and no loose wires. I sprayed it with some contact cleaner. Do they go bad even when everything looks good? Thanks, Ron

I'll assume it was working, because there are switches that are made to be "0ff" in the center position, and someone may have installed one of those by mistake.

At any rate, the contacts on these lever (wafer-type) switches can be easily deformed, or even broken off. Fixing these switches, unless it's just dirty contacts, can be hit or miss as far as reliability goes. The best and easiest repair is to replace the $10 switch.

I just got the guitar so maybe someone put the wrong switch in. I did put slight pressure on the contact with a toothpick just to see if maybe it wasn't touching. I am borrowing a meter tomorrow to see what readings I get. I'll know for sure if it's a center "off" switch. Thanks for your reply.

Turned out to be a missing jumper wire on the switch. The solder was there, but no wire. Works fine now.
