For storing custom temperments and serious fine tuning, the MT-1200 was the best for a long time. Now you can get perhaps better performance out of the new Peterson virtual strobe tuners

or better yet, the Campbell PST-3 which in my opinion is the best tuner there is. Pricey though.

What would a good deal on a used 1200 be?

How much are the petersons?

A used Korg 1200 is about $200 and so is a new Peterson. The PST-3 is double that (but he will offer a student discount).
