Indeed they are! One of the finest. Particularly for those players that prefer to use a tuner to set all the strings and changes. If on the other hand, a player just uses a tuner to set the "E's" and tunes everything else by ear, it is much to expensive a piece of equipment for that.

Plus the V-Sam version has two steel guitar "presets" that you can calibrate to your own liking; or use it as it comes. In either case it makes tuning a steel lightning fast and dead on to whatever it has been calibrated to.

These tuners were sold at last year's ISGC. I assume the same for this year. A number of steel players have purchased them. All indications point to satisfaction,

Jeff Newman couldnt sell them fast enough in Dallas last March. Also, I went to see Robert Randolph last week and he's using one. I use one and its much easier than remembering the tempered tunings as these are built in.

Bob (and others),
I'm thinking of getting one too, and will try to purchase it from Fran Newman, if she still has some in stock. Those of us who can do our part to help out by buying from Fran at this point in time might wish to consider that, too...

I have a VS-II and it's great! I can tune my E9 neck and all the changes in about 10 minutes if I take a five minute coffee break. Just dial up the E9 presets and away you go!

I use the C6 presets for my C6 lap steel and they work very well. I use the Equal Temper setting for my A6 lap steel.
