A friend of mine gave me an old Gibson GA-6 amp that someone had given him. It has a pair of 6V6 power tubes, 5Y3, and (2) 12ax7's, and is real close to a Fender Deluxe. Even the cabinet is like the Deluxe. It has a 12" Jensen blue frame speaker in it that dates to 1953. After removing the covering someone had covered it with, it had a grey and white marbley looking cloth cover on it that is original. The logo is a flat stainless steel "Gibson" script.
Is this a 1953, or does anyone know the year of this?
The amp needs recovering, and a bit of work, but I have taken it on as a project. I believe it puts out 10-14 watts. I hope this will make a good little lap steel amp.
Thanks,
Lefty
