Topic: Help with a Sho-Bud Amp |

I got a chance to buy this amp, my questions are:
What model? is it the famed single-channel?
Are these relatively rare?
Heavy?
Opinions on sound and reasonable price welcome as well.
Oh it's sooooo tempting. Had a chance to get a Compactra(and I can't say enough nice things about the seller, he was very helpful) but that was just too big. This may fit the bill. Thanks! |

I own two Single Channels, and that ain't it . . . . don't know quite what it is. Never seen one. It COULD be someone's home-made "ShoBud," or it could be one that they DID make, but I've just never seen. The wood grain almost suggests that it's something Jim Evans built, to me, but . . . . . .

Hey Chris that does look like a Evans chasse in that cabinet which I'm not too familiar with that cabinet.
Homemade job>probably so; but man I bet it will sound great>try it out. What speaker is in it?

I guess just the panel of the head looks like a Evans; but you say all tubes and I am just not familiar with that. Kevin Owens would know if that is a Sho~Bud Amp in fact and probably will know what that is all together> kpearlsnap@aol.com

Sure looks like somebody's homebrew to me. The chassis does look Evan's-ish, and the hardware looks to be Fender. It looks like the back-left screw that holds the chassis is not the same spacing as the others? If it's not, you can bet a factory didn't make it. They're real picky on front and top cosmetics. Speaker looks like it might be a JBL D130-F!
All in all, I think it's something somebody made out of a chassis, and an old Fender extension speaker. |

I does seem a little homemade. Here's a picture from the back, now that I look closely I don't see any preamp tubes, just the power ones, which appear to be 6550's but I can't be sure. I wish I had the time to drive up and see this thing in person, it's quite the mystery!

Could it be a Standel chassis??? Looks close to it and the fact that it is a hybrid makes me think so..?!
