Does anyone know where I can get a "Drake Transformer T402" for a Marshall amp? Parts suppliers etc. Thanks in advance.

There is a site called www.toneheaven,
they specialize in used Marshalls. If not
type in Marshall I think thats how I found
it. Are you actually using it for steel?

I tried it on my guitar and it had a great clean sound (not normal for most marshalls) and was about to try it on the steel when it probably sensed what I was about to do and decided to end its own life!

Try Hoffman Amps, they have some Marshall power transformers listed on their web site.

John, is that a power or output transformer? Since you were asking about a Drake, I'm assuming that it is a 50 watt. If it is an output transformer, these guys have had great raves about their OT's http://www.obsoleteelectronics.com/index.htm .

I have heard horror stories about Tone Heaven (Tone Hell, some would say). Victor at Plexi Palace could also help ya out.

John, is that the 50W Marshal that uses two 6550 output tubes? Those ARE very clean with the volume control set low and the master volume set high or wide open.
Unfortunately, they have often suffered from transformer quality problems.
You could also try the amplifier bulletin board at:
http://www.vintageguitar.com

for an answer.
