Nashville 400 mods???

It's my understanding that the Lemay mod is better than the Peavey 'factory upgrade' for the Nashville 400 but is it worth doing both (<---is that even possible)? Thanks in advance.

I just had gotten a kit from John and the kit was put in by a good tech and yes it makes a big difference. I now have a great sounding Nashville 400 amp.

I still would like to know the answer to the question.

Is it better to have one (peavey mod), two (LeMay mod), or three Both?

Which is the better sound in your opinion?

Carl, John can probably better address this, but from the info I have basically John's mod does what the Peavey mod does, plus. So going by that I would say if you go with John's mod, you don't need to do the Peavey mod first.

If you talk to Peavey, their upgrade is all that's needed.

My Nashville 400 came with the Peavey mod and I'm happy the way it is.

I guess I talked in circles, but then that's what being over 60 does for you....

After looking at a schematic, I would expect that if you did both mods to one amp you would end up replacing some of the same parts twice, mainly the R's and C's that 'voice' the amp.

Carl, I don't have the tech info on John's mod, but the Peavey is mostly in the EQ. They change some caps, resistors and most of the Op amps. Compared to the original Nashville 400's, the modified ones have a lot more lows and the highs are smoothed.

When I was looking for a new amp I played a new, unmodified, Nashville 400 and could never get the tone the way I wanted - no lows and seemed to be to harsh or no body. The mod makes a completely different amp out of it, and with the mod was good enough for me to get rid of my Session 500 which I thought was the best Steel amp Peavey had made.

I've played and heard both our mod and the LeMay mod. There is no audible difference. There are a couple of parts that do not require replacing in our kit, and I as they don't affect the audio chain of the amp.

Jack now be truthful it aint the over 60 it's more like too much beach watching and don't say your lookin for bad weather. And Mike I also was under the impression that the install price was 55.00 also did you get the kit for the 500 yet you know there are still some of us 500 guys left in this world and we all got bad backs to. Maybe Peavey will give us a break sincewe are all mostly crippled from the weight
