Hi,
anyone ever used the P.O.D. live on stage?
I mean: Steelguitar - Vol.Pedal - FX - P.O.D. - Stagebox/mixer
How are your experiences?

Works fine. However, it really helps to take some time on your computer using the SoundDiver program to make parameter adjustments and multiple effects tweaks. Remember, these things were directed straight at guitar players. Most presets are way too dirty or overdriven for straight steel sounds.
I'm on a PowerMac, and I use OMS and SoundDiver, and a Midiman USB to Midi interface. Once inside,(the Pod), there are tons of sounds available. Lots of fun to fool around with. I've used the Pod on several fly-dates, mostly T.V. and some one-offs, and traveling has never been easier. We usually rent a TubeFex(I just carry a memory card) and a Nashville or Session, but if a TubeFex isn't available, the Pod comes out. I stopped flying amps and effects racks years ago......too much stress worrying if they will work or not after the airline gets done with them! |

Jeff, if you're reading this:
I'm using a POD with my Stringmaster non-pedal steel. I would really appreciate
hearing about the settings you are using
with your steels. Line6 has been posting
"artist patches" on their website and it
sure would be nice to try out what you've
found that works for you. You're the
first person I've heard of using the POD
with steel besides myself.
Thanks

Hey Jeff I was just at the NAMM show and Line6 handed out a glossy brochure with a section entitled (something like) P.O.D. goes Country, with a letter from you prominently displayed. They should send you some nice toys for that one!

Bill, I try just about everything that comes out if I'm able...at least once.
Dan, the guys at Line 6 are some of the biggest gear-heads I've ever met...Tim told me the 2 guys that actually came up with all the sounds in the Pod are locked permanently in a closet.....it drove them nuts. They did well on the Pod.....it's a fun toy. |

I agree on the P.O.D.
I actually have never used it on a recording, but I imagine it would sound decent (especially if I tweaked the gain settings so that it doesn't overdrive so easily).
It is an awesome headphone setup!

I've been using the Pod for both guitar and pedal steel. It is a nice box. I brought it up for my brother, a guitar player, to try out running into the EFX loop of his Mesa Boogie and he was so impressed with it that he got one, along with the floorboard controller, the delay modeller, and the modulation modeller for his live rig. He's still working on getting all the settings down but he's played it in a live situation with great success. Their delay and modulation modellers are pretty impressive as well and worth checking out. |

I finally (after much consternation and futzing around) got my SounDiver (WinDOH!s version) to talk to my POD and what a world openned up!! I had previously done some tweaks to the presets from the panel but most were still too dirty for most clean sounds- but with the editor you can mix and match amp models with cabinet models and control gain structure etc...plus you have access to MANY models that you can't get to from the front panel- then Down load patches into a "knob accessible" location for "live" use. Several presests for clean, dirty, splanky, etc... at the flip of a dial. Handy.
I haven't figured out how to manipulate the patch addresses from MIDI sequencer yet- would be handy in my one man band in a box gigs to have the sequencer change the settings...
My only wish is it had a Lo-Z output for mic cable connection to FOH mixes, but a good DI box seems to do the trick.
well my only other wish is it was a BIT quieter (hissssssss)
I really like a modified version of the BLackface twin model
I've DL'd the mac SounDiver but haven't got my mac and the POD in the same place yet... life gets teedjous don't it? |

The POD Pro uses the same amp models
as the regular POD, but has some new
features (digital out I think) and some
other things that didn't appear worth
the extra money, at least for my
application. Check out www.line6.com for
more info.
