I have a 1953 Gibson Console Grande Triple 8 that I have decided to sell. It is in very good condition. It sounds great. Plays very well, always cleaned after every use. Selling with case and legs. Asking $1500 and I will pay shipping to the 48 continental united states. If you have any questions at all post here or send me an e-mail at derbyman2@hotmail.com .

According to Gruhn-1953 is first year production for the CGT-That one is a real beauty and one of the most tempting guitars that I have seen for sale in awhile-This model was only made a few years-By 1956 they had gone to the(much uglier)oak finish-If only it was a CGTN (natural finish) I'd be sending the check

Thank you Cartwright,Chris, and Paul for your comments. This is a real American classic steel.I hate to sell it but I don't have room to set it up.Would like to see it go to someone that would play it and not just stick it under the bed.Once again thank you and have a happy 4th of July.

Robert, Where are the legs? My D8 has the legs stored in the case lid and the guitar goes in the case face down, like a pedal steel. I'm assuming the legs are under the guitar? Your picture shows it sitting on a keyboard bench.

Jim,the site only allows seven pictures to be posted so all the photo's did not make it.The legs fit in the bottom of the case and the guitar sits top up unlike the D-8 that I have also that the legs fit in the top and the guitar is upside down in the case. Here's a link where you can view all of the photos http://img14.photobucket.com/albums/v42/gotspeed13/steel/ .

Man, those photos sure bring back memories. I bought a new D8 Console Grande in the mid-fifties and those memories are of the prettiest guitar I ever owned. Someone laid a cigarette on the front edge and burned the plastic inlay ot the keyhead and I was never able to get it repaired where it didn't show. I don't remember what happened to it but it was a beautiful instrument. I do know that I replaced it with a Fender triple neck standup legs and two Doc Martin "Bud Isaacs" pedals. Those were some great days!
