I remember Vance from the 40'@ 50's. Yes, I would like to see him do a video on BJW, although I am partial to the Playboys since I have known Herb R. from those days. Iwould prefer a non-pedal video for old times sake. Glad to see someone else rembers the older players. Bill Chaviers,ICQ 36667112.

Welcome Vance. I'm a newcomer to steel and have enjoyed your playing on the BJW CD I own.
Can you tell me what tuning you used on those recordings?
With respect to a video, I think we need a lot more non-pedal videos in the marketplace. The only one I'm familiar with is the Cindy Cashdollar one and consider it pretty basic. I'd prefer to see something with more content.

Welcome to the forum!
I'd love to see a more advanced nonpedal video than the Cindy Cashdollar videos. Even a closeup of you just playing various songs would be a big help. If you've seen the Homespun Tapes videos, they do a very nice "split screen" approach with two cameras, one showing the right hand and one showing the left hand.

| Vance your work with Billy Jack, and Jimmie Rivers is just outstanding. You and Tiny Moore were a great pairing. I'd like to see some stuff on Billy Jacks band, but i would also have to echo what Brad said about a more advanced nonpedal video, preferably one on the jazzier improvisational styles. Hope you'll be sticking around here for a while |

Hi Vance,
Your playing on the Billy Jack and Jimmie Rivers stuff is exceptional. I would definitely want a tape. If I'm correct I think you had some pedals on your Bigsby and I would love to know the tunings and the pedal arrangements,(copedents). |

I'll buy it.If I wasn't busy finishing up Murph's CD,I would probably try to get involved myself,as I have a background in producing instructional videos.I did two for Hellecaster Will Ray a few years ago,and maybe the first one ever made around 1980 for L.A.bassist Carol Kaye.Anyhow,good luck and keep on playing.And Mike,if there's ANYTHING I can do to help - please let me know.Guys like Vance and Murph are national treasures as far as I'm concerned. -MJ- |

Vance,
Let me bug you with a couple more questions.
It is my understanding that your bigsby was originally non-pedal and Paul Bigsby added two pedals to it at a later date. Is this true and what did those two pedals do?
Which recordings were done non and which had the two? When was the transition? Thanks again.
