Paul--yeah! Beautiful Ellington (or is it Strayhorn?) easy swinging tune. John Steele should be along shortly to set you right. While you wait, I took these changes out of a fake book. They look close enough to me. Do you know how this song sounds? Because the melody really suggests how to approach this on steel regarding bar movement. Wish I could hum a few bars here for you.

Satin Doll falls easily on the E-9 neck. I can't figure out how to post tab but try starting on the 6th fret with the fourth string lowered playing strings 4,5,6. Then move to third fret open and play 4,5,6 or 4,5,9 followed by the 1st string. The next phrase starts on the eight fret with the 4th string lowered playing 4,5,6, and then the 5th fret open strings 4,5,6 or 4,5,9 followed by the 1st string. Then go up to 13 with the 4th string lowered and play 4,5,6, followed by the 10th fret open strings 4,5,6, or 4,5,9 followed by the 1st string at the same fret. The last phrase is at the 7th fret strings 4,5,6 using the A pedal and the 4th string lowered, then 7th fret 5,6,9 with the A pedal, then 9th fret 5,6,8 with the A pedal resolving to 8th fret open strings 4,5,9 followed by slides to the 7th, then the 6th, then the 5th . The whole thing repeats with the last notes being at the 8th fret strings. 5,6,8. I am assuming you know the melody to this song. It's just the same pattern repeating at different frets. The bridge you can figure out easily.
