I made numerous revisions, 8 pm EST, Thursday, as promised. Note corrections to bars 14, 15, 16, and bar three of 2nd ending. This is the key is is written in, and the one most commonly suggested at jams.
Obviously, you can't play the roots written on strings 8 9 and 10 with the chords. I put them in case you are playing alone and want to strike them right after the melody chords. Let me know how it works out.

Thanks for posting this.....your "L" knee level raises 3rd string a 1/2 step? Your 5th pedal lowers the 5th string a 1/2 step? Just checking - I don't have the standard setup.

Hi Fraser
The "L" on the 3rd string means lower 1/2 step. (C-B)
Yes, the 5th string lower is 1/2 a step too. I had forgotten to mention that the 1st string is D on my setup, rather than the optional G. Let me know how it works out for you. Thanks for responding.

John,

Thanks for posting this tab. I am really enjoying learning this old classic.

Question on Pedal technique:
What is the proper foot technique for playing C6th combinations of Pedals 6 & 7; Pedals 5 & 7; Pedals 5,6 & 7? Do you use your right foot on Pedal 7 in all three or just in the latter two combinations?

I 'always' use my right foot for Pedal 8, but sometimes trip over myself when the Pedal 7 combinations are present in rapid succession as in "Tenderly".

Thanks for your time.

Bud

Hi Bud,
I'm glad you're enjoying the tab. It's a great old tune, isn't it?
I had to smile at your question, as I'm a greenhorn steeler. My forte is chord theory rather than steel technique, but I understand what you mean. I struggle with C6 "footsies" too. Lately I've resigned myself to the thought that you just can't play C6 with one foot, you simply have to get comfortable with taking your foot off the volume pedal. I've found it easiest (and safest) to take your foot off as a chord/note is being sounded rather than between chords. I'd be anxious to hear other's thoughts on this, as I'm not too experienced. What do you think?
Anyway, yes, I play 6 & 7 together with my left foot, but use 2 feet for the rest.
The chord that uses 5,6,&7 may be a little unusual,(the 7b9) but it sure sounds sweet to me with the root on top.
If anyone ever has some old tune like this that they would like tab posted for, fire away. I learn alot doing it when time affords. It's my pleasure and payback for all the kind help I've received from forumites.
-John
p.s. sorry for the double post. Gremlins.
