I haven't heard Greg Booth, but his dobro playing is top.
Notice that with this kind of speed, minimal lifting of the bar in required:

Chris, I'm glad you've finally discovered Greg, since he recorded this video 14 years ago. Better late than never! Cool

I used to have a great sounding 30's Regal dobro that Gene Wooten at Sho~Bud had restored.
I played with Dan Hicks And His Acoustic Warriors and he played a lot of GBDGBD material, but also a lot of jazz/swing, so I ended up using
the upper end of of the the C6th tuning with Buddy's "D" on top.
I can get tired of hearing the standard hammer-ons that most players use with standard dobro tuning.
For the general listener, they don't care about that.
Because Gene had sanded it down to refinish it, it was thinner.
When I worked for Robert Randolph, he liked to warm up on it on the bus, but in his enthusiasm, he wrecked it beyond repair and I had to throw it away.
Greg's playing is so refreshing.

BIG fan of Greg Booth. Tuning the bottom G to E really opened up the neck to me. Not only is it the home position for G, it is also home position for some really funky E sounds. Also good for the occasional 6th sounds.

Great, clean player!

Tom

I like a 1 4 5 4 5 1 tuning without the identifying major or minor and add them in when needed., with th bar.
