I am looking for a “Good” Distortion Pedal” for my Steel. I have tried the various distortion pedals that I used previously with six string guitars, but I find them unable to obtain the same sustain and distortion on a steel guitar. I believe that is related to the pickup windings and impedance differences on the different guitars. I would prefer to use a pedal rather that try to dial in distortion with my gain control on my amp..

Recommendations would be appreciated..

Larry

I'm a big fan of the SansAmp Classic. Very versatile, not very intuitive. I like it after my volume pedal where it feels more natural to me.

I use a High Gain Hermida Audio Mosferatu for heavy distortion.

Thx Gentlemen for the input. After listening to Scott Swartz’s pedal at “Steeltronic’s “ I have decided to purchase that one.

A note about the Hermida pedals:

The prices of the real Hermida pedals have gone through the roof in the past couple of years.

As an alternative, I believe that Lovepedal and Warm Audio are cloning or are licensed or whatever to build the Hermida designs.

There may be some foreign made clones also. You're on your own there.

Also, if you're open to building your own, there is a company called Aion that offers up kits.

Further note..

I received the “STO” Pedal from “Steeltronic’s “ which was designed by Scott Swartz. This pedal has surpassed all my expectations in a distortion pedal. The various adjustments in the design has many levels of distortion available to you.

Thanks Scott for another great product.

I just checked out the STO and it is a sweet sounding overdrive! I need to check my budget.

Here is the video. Sounds good!
I wish Scott would demo this before and after the volume pedal.
This video seems to be with the effect after the V. P.
