For sale my 48 Ric. Very good condition. One slightly bent tuner on 3rd string.Tuner does work perfectly. Not a speck of rust on any chrome.No issues of any kind. A great guitar. $1400.oo shipped in conus. paypal,cashier check,personal check ok.

| I know. Now you're lucky to get a gig bag. The old lucite handle is pristine. I really can't figure out how the case got as worn as it is. The guitar appears to have been played very little. |

I wonder if you can even find that sort of striped pattern tweed anywhere now. I have an old train case (women's cosmetics case) and a small suitcase similar to your case. Love that stuff!

Do you know when and why the name changed from Richenbacher to Rickenbacker? |

Go for it Joe! 100%. B6s are awesome, they play great with the wider string spacing, they sustain like a grand piano with the pedal down, and there are few lap steels ever manufactured that sound better. Plus, Mike's is in excellent condition, he's a straight-shooter, and a pleasure to deal with.
Even though I'm a huge fan and proponent of postwar Gibsons, a nearly identical B6 to Mike's (mine has white knobs) was my first lap steel. It's still the best-sounding instrument in my collection, and I will take it to my grave.
Ric's namesake was born Adolph Riggenbacher in Germany. After emigrating with relatives after the death of his parents, young Adolph's surname was changed to Rickenbacher. The very first Rics were branded Electro. To capitalize on the name of his famous distant cousin Eddie Rickenbacker, the American flying ace from WW-I, Adolph adopted cousin Ed's name. It started appearing on the instruments sometime before WW-II. |

| Thanks for the kind words Jack. Joseph I can't say for sure but I believe the spelling was changed 49 or 50. Someone may chime in here. The why is a mystery to me. It was after the war so they didn't need to fear reprisal of any sort. Perhaps they thought it seemed more modern. It seems during this period Hawaiian music was losing its appeal and times were a changing. |

The change occurred around 1950. I believe they wanted a more Americanized spelling after WWII. |
