Mullen Tone [Please CLOSE]

I hope you'll indulge me. Understanding that amps, speakers, settings, technique and even individual guitars all have some bearing on one's sound, how would you Mullen players describe the "Mullen" tone.

When I had my 2629, some of the pickers described it as having that Emmons tone>...I did not think so from a player's position.

I've heard others say Sho-Bud on steroids, others say simply a tone of it's own. What say you?

Please don't turn this into a general "all sound the same" thread.

I know everybody has a theory and opinion on this, but I'd like to keep it to a Mullen tone thread. Thanks.

I always thought that there was a pretty good combination of both the Emmons and ShoBud sound, to a degree. It definitely has that classic traditional Nashville sound, with the clarity, bell tone, and growl, that captures a lot of the Emmons and ShoBud characteristics. I think that’s what Tommy White, and a lot of players, love about the Mullen sound, very versatile.

I told the story on the forum long ago, and the basics of was that some Mullen guitars sound more like an Emmons than some Emmons guitars. Is it the player…or the guitar?

Poll has pretty much run it's course. Been 2 wks. The overwhelming vote is that it's a sound of it's own Mullen tone with a few hints toward Emmons.

Time to close it up.
