I have been able to find only one album of Weissenborn instrumental tunes, "Beneath the Weissenborn", by Thomas Oliver. I love the sound of that instrument (though you do get a lot of songs in D tuning). Does anyone have any suggestions? I put together a play list from Youtube, and it seems like there are quite a few accomplished players out there.

i believe tony ku's album "original hawaiian steel guitar" was recorded on a weiss; vol III of "tone poems" by david grisman has some instrumental vintage weiss played by bob brozman; and any of the led ka'apana or cyril pahinui albums with bob brozman will include instrumentals done on bear creek-built weissenborn-style instruments. there is also a lovely album by wendell peters and fernando perez done on weissenborn-style steel, some of it instrumental only.

Google “Christiaan Oyens”. He sent me a CD called “Adeus Paraiso” ~20 years ago.

I’ve found that Weissenborn instrumentals are performed by multi-instrumentalists (e.g. Ed Gerhard, ”House of Guitars”) adept on a variety of instruments.

I’ll +1 the suggestions previous to this post.

The Henrys are a Canadian band featuring Don Rooke on Weissenborn/Kona. I'd recommend their album The Yearly Ears as a start, but they're all great.

Definitely search out Ken Emerson. He plays both Weissenborn and National steels. You’ll know the Weissy when you hear it, but, off the top of my head, I can’t think of a specific track.

Since Andy had been so kind to put my name in his list, I'll just add that Ted Gioia included my weissenborn album "Les Cailloux" on his 100 albums of the year 2023.

How he found my existence will remain a mystery, but is certainly a testimony to his dedication... I was stupefied, to say the least.

These are tunes I made for a puppet show that we produced, my wife and me, in 2019-20. We premiered the play at the Festival International de la Marionnette de Saguenay in 2021.

As usual I composed way too much material for the task, so I compiled the work and put it on Bandcamp, with my tablatures personal notes, in case it could be of interest for someone studying weissenborn playing (although they arguably are somewhat peculiar compositions for a weiss...)

Most of the pieces are in D minor tuning, which fits the play quite well.
There you go : https://jeanpaulbataille.bandcamp.com/album/les-cailloux-weissenborn-studies-vol-2
(I divided the work in 2 name-your-price albums)

Makes for a nice melancholic ambience, too.
