Looking for help identifying this melody. Does anyone recognize it? I found it on a record where is it titled "Aloha Oe", which is obviously wrong.

There's something about it I can't put my finger on exactly but I wouldn't be certain it is Hawaiian. There are Hawaiian waltzes of course, but the waltz and something I can't quite place about the melody and chord progression make me think this is more of a mainland melody (but I could totally be wrong, I'm really not sure why it doesn't seem Hawaiian to me, just a gut feel thing).

Is this your version or the original version from the record you mentioned? Can you share what the album name / artist was?

Hi Nic,

The band is called Mai Tai Orchestra, they are based in Montreal, Canada. This is their recording. Bizarrely, this one is titled "Aloha Oe" in the album, while the song known as Aloha Oe is titled "I Found My Wahine". But that comes from the Billy Mure orchestra recording:

I'm pretty sure this Hawaiian song is called Halona.
Gabby Pahinui and the Sons Of Hawaii recorded this song in a medley together with the song Waialae.
