I am wondering if any of these were produced by Emmons & if anyone has one for sale? Thanks.

Tom - I'm guessing S-12's and SD-12's were built from the late 60's / early 70's to around 1981 or so. I've owned 3 single frame 12's over the years. My first was a U-12 that Clem Schmidt in Minneapolis built for me in 1977, and my main guitar these days is an extended E9 that I bought in 2001. Bobbe Seymour @ Steel Guitar Nashville currently has a SD-12 for sale. Good luck in your search...these are great guitars! http://www.steelguitar.net/

Were there factory SD-12's or were these conversions? A factory one wouldn't have the changer holes for the back neck.

Billy Cooper had one in his store in Orange, Va. a few years back which was a P/P U-12 in black mica. It was a mint condition guitar with 7 floor and 4 knee levers. One lever was the long verticle one like Jeff Newman used. I wish I'd bought it when I was looking at it as I went back the next week and it was gone. I did get to play it and everything worked well. It was the only P/P Universal I've ever seen....JH

I had a rosewood PP U12 a while back. It was set up by Bobby Bowman and worked great. You can check with Ron Jr at Emmons because he might be able to build you a new PP 12st. If I remember right he said he had the bodies and endplates ready for 12st PPs.
