I recently discovered a social network site that truly values the privacy of its members. It's free, and the only advertising I've seen is for extra packs of emojis to use on the site. Very unobtrusive. They don't sell your data to advertisers. Read their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. I did.
I just now created a Pedal Steel Guitar group there. I think that MeWe.com has the potential to be a Facebook killer. Use the link below to join MeWe and add me to your contact list there:

Joined MeWe 6 months ago, and for now I use it mainly to read alt-news and such. No ads, and no policing. Early days yet, but MeWe definitely has potentials to grow into something useful. |

Thanks! I hope it stays that way. _________________ Kevin Maul: Airline, Beard, Clinesmith, Decophonic, Evans, Excel, Fender, Fluger, Gibson, Hilton, Ibanez, Justice, K+K, Live Strings, MOYO, National, Oahu, Peterson, Quilter, Rickenbacher, Sho~Bud, Supro, TC, Ultimate, VHT, Williams, X-otic, Yamaha, ZKing. |

Thanks Bob! It'll be a very heavy lift to kill or even compete with Facebook, but it looks very good so far. More power to 'em!

It works a lot like Facebook, but without the ads. I get so sick of seeing EyeBuyDirect and even Sweetwater ads on Facebook. Visual garbage! _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Ad blockers and "Social Fixer" remove disturbances and tailor Facebook at my end, but it is good that MeWe doesn't need such add-ons in order to behave. |

They make Facebook look cleaner, but they don't stop Zuckerberg & Co from gathering information about you and sharing it with other companies or political organizations. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Of course Facebook's owners gather info no matter what. Sharing anything on FB, and internet as a whole, is the same as sharing it with anyone who bothers looking for it. There are no real "secrets" on the internet, and it pays to be a little paranoid – just not so much that we shut ourselves out from society.
I like MeWe's policy, but still won't "open all channels" and share stuff there that I cannot safely share with others in the "real" world (whatever "real" means today). |
