Like I said in many other threads, the Kline is the most stable, smoothest playing, and great sounding guitar(IMHO). The only thing that I would like to see on that guitar that almost all other guitars have is the ability to adjust the height of the pickup. Mine was rewound before I bought it and it is twice as hot compared to my ZBs and Shobuds. I would like to back the pickup away from the strings. My only solution is to buy a pickup from Joe Kline that has less output.
Any thoughts or feedback is welcome.

Dave, When you say hot, what exactly do you mean? Did Joe rewind it? I also suspect that it might be a bit closer to the changer, than the other guitars. Perhaps a custom manufacturer like Jerry Wallace (http://www.jerrywallacemusic.com/contact.htm) or Bill Lawrence (http://www.billlawrence.com/) would build one that would perform to the sound you wish to hear. I know Bill loves to talk about pickups for hours on end, call him. |

Jon, I've played the guitar that Henry sold you and there is definitly a difference. I also played yours. Those guitars have a bit more sweetness to them. Mine sounds great but it is fat and dark sounding and super punchy. Sometimes the mids seem a little muddy to me.

I always wanted to put a coil tapped pickup in that Kline that I had. I think that would have been cool. Dave's guitar sounds really good, but sometimes it is a little too hot. |

Dave, pull that hot PU out and get some of the turns of wire off of it, you can measure it with a ohm meter as you go. I've done a couple that way, and as long as they're not potted, it's no problem. Just resolder when you get it where it sounds the way you like it. Carefully though, that wires reeeeeal thin....regards, BH |
