I have come to the conclusion that a vegas 500 can give you all the great sound you need for playing Steel Guitar.
I heard 2 great players side by side.
1. John Hughey is he good???
2. Jimmy Powell he is also good.
Jimmy was playing a vegas with DD3 that is all
John was playing a sterio twin sp[eakers,
Jimmy's sound was equil to John's sound, this was a supprise to me.
The next day I knew where to get one and Bill Cook sent it to me right away.
I have had Ken fox install the upgrade, inproves the lows and mid range and it is wisper quiet. Last night at 2:00 AM this morning in Ray city he did the second one for me, believe me try it and you will like it.

Tommy Cass & I recently have been experimenting with amps of various types, including Webb & Evans models. For stand-alone, the Webb 614-E couldn’t be touched, though the Evans SE200 held a respectable 2nd place. One discovery that utterly stunned both of us, is "that playing through twin Vegas 400s, with compression units at the end of the effects chain (i.e., last before amp input) blows away all the others, sound-wise," including the boutique amps, as stand-alones. Pairing a Webb 614-E and an Evans SE200 was at least the equal in sound, if not a little better. Nonetheless, this supported your conviction that Vegases are among the best sounding medium-line amps – distinctly better than a Session 400, though not quite as rich at all tonal levels as a Session 500.

I've got a second Session 500 here, and would you believe it....never tried using them together. Any specific way of approaching this?

You are certainly correct about Jimmy Powell being a player. I heard him play several years ago in Magee, Ms. along with John Hughey, Weldon Myrick and several others. Jimmy's tone was as good if not better than anyone there.

When using 2 amps Or 2 chanels on one amp, use one thick and 1 thin, or one sharper than the other, try using 2 different sounds on each channel, or setups if you wish. I think this wioll give you a bigger sound and better. I use DD3 on 11:00, 11:00 and 800.
