So I'm cleaning out the car and throwing out trash and stuff when I come across an empty M&M Minis container. Hmmm, he says.... Measured it and it's about 1 1/16 diameter and 4 inches long. Instant case for one of my steel bars! So there's my one good thought for the day. Now the next time the kids start begging for these in the checkout lane I'll just smile and think about how cheap my next "case" is and what a good recycler I am.... Who knows? They might even share the candy..... N.

Thanks for the tip. I once put a major ding in one of my favorite bars when it rolled off my steel and hit the pavement between sets. If it had been in a case, that wouldn't have happened.

Isn't the lid on that tube attached to the body by a molded tab? That's the advantage.

I keep my bar in my pocket between sets. Keeps it nice and warm. And it only hits the floor when you miss your pocket or have a hole in your pocket.

That Neil is a genius. The M&M containers also make wonderful shakers, when filled with rice, salt, or M&Ms...for those random "steel-less percussion breakdowns" that I know crop up in all of our setlists.

Plus, a tasty pick me up, while the lead guitarist noodles...

A genius I say.

Ray, you are correct sir!

Larry, I was pretty sure someone else I had thought of this but one never knows. My kids always beat me to the candy. Wife too...

Aaron, As you well know, the only time I get called a genious is when my Wife (or you, now that I think about it) says, "Way to go, genious". I'm pretty sure you both mean it in a way that doesn't make me the "smart" one....

Ricky L.

I use a Crown Royal bag for my spare pick assortment, and another bag for my spare pair of eye glasses. Of course if you need more bags you might want to think about getting a friend to help with what's in the bottles!! lol...

I've been using the M&M mini thing since they came out, found out by accident they were just the right size for spare finger picks too!!

I tote 3 Crown Royal bags with various "back up" pics along with other junk I "think" I might need.

Never had need for one (a "bar case"). I carry my bars in a big plastic box (a rifle cleaning kit case, actually), along with everything else...

picks
allen wrenches
nut drivers
pulling fingers
Steel Nutz
screws
tuning fork
pliers
screwdrivers
cutters
screws
nuts
other bars
string winder
washers
drum keys
flashlight

...well, you get the idea!

I've got literally hundreds of parts in that box, and yes, the bars do get little teeny scratches you can see, but you can't feel 'em. Nope! They don't hurt my sound. Nope, no way they would ever affect my playing.

Do I need a bar that shines like a new penny?

No. There's far more significant things in life to worry about. I ain't gonna loose a lotta sleep because my bar doesn't look as "pretty" as so-and-so's.

You guys need to get a life!

(Overheard at the I.S.G.C.)

"No, he doesn't play very well, but he's got the prettiest bar"!!!

LOL!

So Donny, you dont need a bar case since yours are already stored in the "big plastic box" you carry your gear to your gigs.

cool man.
