Sorry - I can't post a picture!

I don't know where I picked this one up, but all I can tell you is that it's green ...

I know - it's not much to go on, but maybe there's only one green thumbpick available, and maybe someone knows what it is!

I've grown to love it, but now it's finally broken... I reverted to my old 'favourite' (Golden Gate), but they feel thick and clumpy to me now.

This is a slim hope, I know, but.......

Well, I've seen tortoise-shell designs in green, plain green (in a couple of shades), stripey-types, ans well as metallic zig-zags.

We need more that "just green" to help!

I don't know about green, but ain't it funny that when somebody says "blue thumbpick," everybody knows what they're talking about?????

Thanks, Joey!

The upper picture shows the actual colour more accurately. If you look carefully at the lower pic, you can see the hair-line crack that's rendered this very comfortable pick useless.... I need to get some more!

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks, all....

I agree with Michael, that looks like an old Jap pick. You might try the Peavey thumb picks, as they make several which are similar in size and tongue shape.

Roger,

This doesn't help answer your question, but to try something until you find what you are looking for, have you tried the plain old white National thumbpicks. Holding mine up against your pictures, the shape looks the same to me, even though the feel of the material would no doubt be different than what you are used to.

Hi, Robert

It's funny you should say that, because a couple of days ago I was rummaging through all the junk I have in various drawers around the music room, and I came across an old white National - I slipped it on and, presto - I loves it!

The daft thing is - that's what I always used to use, but I drifted through different picks over the years, most recently using the 'Golden Gate' ones. At first I liked their weight and heft, but since using that green one above (I think, on reflection, that was one Bud Vanderberg had in his music room one day, which is why I can't recall buying it!), I'm reverting to a lighter gauge again.

This is all just human nature, I suppose - we're never quite satisfied! Now I seem to have come full-circle.

Roger,

Glad I mentioned it then. About a year ago, I ordered about 10 different thumbpicks based on different recommendations. Most I didn't like much, some I did. I ended up going back to the National's I had been using prior to the "experiment". There is a little bit of a "scratchy" feel as they hit individual strings that I could do without, but they are the most comfortable for me. The green one you were using looks like the material might have a better "feel" in that way. I'll be interested if you ever really find out what it is. (I use the Jeff Newman metal fingerpicks.)

So it WAS your pick, Bud! I thought it had to be, as I couldn't think where else it might have come from.

Do you remember where you got it? This mystery has kept at least four Forumites on the edge of their seats!

Now I'll have to try to get it fixed....

I had my last National "white" thumb pick break the other day at a gig, and I grabbed a Dunlop for a replacement..... I had no idea I had grown so used to the National picks.... immediatley went out a bought a bunch more. I likes 'em muy plento (Cinco de Mayo-ish response )
