Topic: Pivot your foot or move your foot on E9 |

I was watching Al Brisco pick up and move his foot effortlessly on his great Moony video, but I've always tried to just pivot on my planted left heel, keeping it in one place (like keeping your pinkie on the top string). What do you guys and gals do? Pivot on your planted heel, or picked up your foot -- specifically for E9 on three pedals?

| Pivot!!! It's much faster to go to the third pedal and back. Also your foot is anchored, less chance of hitting the wrong pedal. The only way to go IMO for most styles. Mooney style is the exception as sometimes you want the third pedal without using the second. In that case moving the whole foot is the only way. Practice both methods. No "C" pedal (E->F# on a KL), but I pick up my foot (not pivot) to use "zero" pedal (G#->G - all G# strings), both by itself, and in combination with pedal "A".

| Pivot mostly, but if I gotta move, then I gotta move it. Never had a problem. And I hope I don't start thinkin' about it now that I've read this thread! |

I would have to say both because of B&C pedals, it feels more natural to move my foot than to pivot that far.
