Yeah, searching around I get the impression he did not do a BC course. Bummer. And seems weird. An AB course, A D-Lever course, F-Lever course, but no BC. I see he did do a minors course, but there's more to BC than minor chords.
But what a teacher he was! The AB course is great. I was feeling limited by my own progress, and even tho' I feel I'm past introductory AB pedal stuff, I needed something to shake up my playing a bit. Mr Newman to the rescue. |

The only B & C , course I can remember that Jeff ever taught was at a seminar he did years ago where he did a short study of the B & C pedal positions. It was in Lexington KY at one of his sessions at a steel guitar show & it was a short session at that.

I don't know about B and C pedals, but Jeff Newman did do a course called "The Minor Connection", which included work with B & C. Nice course.

If you look at a Mel Bay chord sheet it only shows 1 use for the B-C Pedals in all the chords shown.
Makes a 1st minor at the 5 chord position on the neck.
Example: Chord G, At the 3rd fret open =G , 3rd fret A pedal =Em, 8th fret open C, D knee lever =Em, 10th fret open =D, A-B pedals G, B-C pedals =Em.
That may be why Mr. Newman just covered it in "he Minor Connection Course"
I have played around with the B-C pedals in a kick off for Walk Through This World With Me. And used it in Ashocon Farwell with a fiddling friend.
A short look at Mr. Sutherland's course, I can see lots of Late Night wood shed work with it. |

I'm aware of the ii chord use of the B/C pedals. But just as I'm aware of the A/B pedals for the IV chord, Newman's A/B course goes further, using the A/B pedals for melodic fills - showing how much is available there all around the neck. I was hoping a B/C course from him would take a similar approach, having the extra raise on the 4th string. At some point I'll probably check out his Minors course, in the meantime, I'll see what Mr Sutherland has to say in his videos. |

To the original question - not to my knowledge either.
There is a lot of information on the forum on B/C usage. There's a lot more to it than 2m. Forum search pretty useless to unearth this because search terms are too generic. I advise sgf site-specific google search.
I know Doug Beaumier wrote a course on B/C pedal usage - it's discussed here -

It's not on his website, so may well be out of print. But it might be possible to unearth a copy, either used or from him - I haven't seen it, but I would think worth checking out. Everything I've seen of his is well done. |
