Is it now a Wah-Volume?
I'm wondering why it needs a battery.

Mike, just curiosity, but would you let us know what has been done to the pedal when you get it?

Bill, I have not heard back from Bob yet, but if/when I get the Pedal AND if I can decode the mod(s), I will be glad to let you know what I find. Take care. Cool

I now have the Pedal. Bill, it looks like no mods here! This seems to be Fender Factory Original!

I have a 1970 Fender (CBS Musical Instruments) catalog. On the last page before the inside back cover listed under Miscellaneous Accessories is Fuzz Wah Pedal with two outboard Stomp Switches. I believe that is how this Pedal started life. Also shown on this page are the usual Volume Pedal and Tone/Volume Pedal along with the Fender Blender and a couple more period goodies.

It looks like someone started to repair or modify this pedal and gave up mid-project. I´m not sure what I´m going to do with it. If I get some time and energy, I´ll take a couple of photos and start a new thread over in Electronics. Bob B may want this thread closed out.

Bill, a search for ¨fender fuzz wah pedal¨ will turn up some photos if you are curious. It looks like there was also a later edition with slide switches in the front rather than the out-board foot switches.

When I get around to it, I will probably put this one into some sort of a Volume/Tone configuration. As I said before, I´ll post in Electronics if anything interesting or useful turns up. In the mean time, I have some other projects higher on my list.

Thanks for your interest. Cool

I'm not at all clear what the conversation is about but I've got this pedal here:

Yes, Jon, that is what we are going on about. Thanks for chiming in. Too bad Bob B pulled the original sales photos. What I bought is a damaged one of those: Outboard switches missing, wires snipped, etc.

If yours has all the parts, but is defective in some other way, maybe we could make two out of one. Tongue firmly in cheek. Cool

Ha!
I have not visited with this pedal in a while. It's at the bottom of a box in storage. Believe it or not, I found it in the garbage room of an apartment building I lived in many years ago. It did not work well but seemed repairable.

What I remember quite well is that the up-down of the pedal rocked the wah. The volume was on the swivel, where the tone would be on a Vol-Tone pedal. IMO this made it virtually useless as a volume pedal.
It basically seemed like a vol-tone pedal to which someone welded some outboard hardware and designed a circuit to keep up with that crazy music the kids are into these days, with the monkey and the watusi.....

Jon, thanks for the info. Right now both strings are turning pots. That encourages me that something can be done with it. On first inspection, it seemed like maybe it is heel down for max volume, but if that motion controls the Wah... Well, I´ll see one of these days. I just built a Wah Pedal last summer--didn´t know that I might be doing another. Cool

Let me know if you think it might be helpful and I'll dig it out and take some macro photos of the innards.
