Playing one of these babies is way out of my league, but like Dom Franko I'm really impressed with the design and craftsmanship.

I like what you're doing with these. As someone who frequently switches back and forth between instruments on a gig, I've certainly thought about trying to go the jr. Brown route. He uses a stand.
The 8 string models weigh the same as a Les Paul around 10 lbs. Six string models a little less. The one above is a 12 string so it weighs a little more. I play it on my lap. You can use a stand but unlike jr.'s you don't need a stand. Also unlike his, the instruments are in their natural playing positions. you can listen to them here. http://www.combotone.com/ I didn't make any videos playing standing up but will soon.
