Has anyone played any steels out of the old Magnatone M series amps with stero and true vibrato? I have two M15s and would like to get one fixed and see what she sounds like.

I've never played steel through one but my brother had one and we both played guitar through it for years . I'm not sure what happened to it but it sounded great for guitar.

I love old Magnatones and Supros. I had one that I believe was much older than the one in the pic and used it for a variety of duties with a guitar. It was a 15 watt (2 6V6), and had that old creamy sound. Mine was kind of like old Bassman or Marshall in that, the more you turned it up, the more really good distortion you got - I don't know if that's good for steel but, I'm thinking mine was made for steel in the 40's or 50's.

I have an old Magnatone 260 with mono vibrato. It's a great sounding amp, no matter what I play through it. It wouldn't get loud enough for steel to do a rocking country band , as it gets some dirt at about 3/4 volume. That's what makes it a great guitar amp.
