Are the illuminated fretboards only available on wood necks?

I'm not sure why but I think I'd prefer metal necks. It's what all three of my current steels have.

I'm seriously considering a new guitar. This new generation of MSAs seems well thought-out.

Roger, my D10 MSA has Wood necks with L-Frets... My SD10 MSA will have a Metal neck but ALSO with L-Frets

Love the innovative ideas on this new guitar .... here is what I would love to see some day for the steel guitar:

Small footprint Multi-effect unit ... either built into the guitar body, or easily attachable to the legs, body or pedal bar .. with easy hand or foot access to 10-20 presets including: reverb, delays. short delay, distortion, dobro emulation, and most importantly a well lit steel specific tuner with mute option.

Latch type lever ... to change tunings .. ie (E9 to C6 emulation or Open Tuning (G) for lap steel and dobro type playing.

One more .... is there any way possible to drive some of the weight out of the instrument with space-age materials ... titanium, plastics?

Lfrets ts are available on metal necks as well..
MSA= Micro Space Anderson....FYI...
Leo- We have already begun discussing Bluetooth technology for communication interface between the guitar and amp. Right now a lot of RnD is taking a backseat to production, as orders are streaming in daily now..As for Titanium..we are using it for our pedal rods..Plastics have not seriously been considered as a viable weight saver.
Latching levers are pretty simple and Im sure MSA can make that happen...

Has MSA ever produced a keyless guitar? If so I've never seen or heard of one that I can think of. Would they build one if requested? Do they even have a keyless tuner design?

While Mickey or Mitchell or Kyle can truly answer your question, I know that Maurice always said to me how much he personally disliked keyless guitars, more from aesthetic reasons than anything else....

My 2011 Studio Pro Bb6 S12 is the greatest guitar in the universe, and I am unlikely to ever own another. If I do ever get another guitar, it will a modern Legend or whatever other amazing instrument MSA comes up with. The guitars are not only mechanically remarkable, but they play and sound fantastic.

Devoted customer for life, or whenever I finally realize playing steel guitar is hopeless. Hasn’t come to that quite yet...

Even though I prefer a mica finish, I like the NEW MSA. They really hit it out with the tone. With all of the things they have done on improvements has really got me interested in wanting to get one. MSA has got an outstanding rep in Mickey Adams. Mickey is a true ambassador to steel guitar. And NO I was not put to up nor was I paid to say what I said. The NEW MSA is raising the bar.

These new MSA look really nice. I got great service and tone out of my 79 S-12 for many years. On the website I don't see any S-10s listed, only SD-10's but it looks like Mickey said he's getting an S-10. Are they starting to make S-10s now?

What makes the MSA stand out above other guitars? Is it the tone of the pickups or the entire construction of the instrument ? Then how does the weight compare with other guitars? What are they made from: wood , aluminium or some other modern man made material ?

This appears to be quite a guitar by all the emails and I just wondered what the secret of its success was.

EVERY BEST WISH and SUCCESS

James Taylor, my review is a bit dated now but shows much of the attention to detail that goes into these guitars:

MSA never made a keyless guitar, but somebody hacked a few inches off one and put a keyless tuner on it. Then he tried to sell it here on the forum.

What is the penalty for steel guitaricide?
