WHAT STRINGS DOES PAUL FRANKLIN USE?
On youtube there is an excellent segment on Franklin's and Vince Gill's gear where Franklin says he uses D'addairo strings. Now I see his as for Jagwire. I know marketing and endorsement fees has a lot to do with this, but what kind of strings does he really use?

Ricky, thanks for the clarification. I appreciate the info. Yesterday I ordered Paul's signature jagwire strings because of the 4th string being a 15. Thanks again. Gary

Looks like Paul might still be using the D'Addario NYXL strings.

In a video I saw, an interview about the Bakersfield album, Paul went over his equipment and stated he used D'Addario strings.

The picture of Paul on the Jagwire string package appears to be several years old.

Just saw a D'Addairo ad which shows a picture of Paul at his steel and shows a picture of the set of strings he allegedly uses....problem with that ad is the string set shown only has 6 strings...thus not for a steel. I realize endorsements, generally, are all about the money, but why two endorsements for the same "item."

As per his comment on 8-18-17, it appears he is using D'Addarrio NYXL. His gauges are a bit different, and they offer the strings with his, and a lighter standard version. J

I have contacted both Jagwire and D'Addairo string companies for clarification. If and when I receive a response I will post same.

I recently replaced the strings on my guitar with a major brand of strings that I have used for several years. The old worn out ones that I took off sounded better than the new ones. They were a new set but dead. Last weekend I was talking to Travis Toy at the MSA showing in Nashville. He told me that he and Paul was using NYXL strings. I bought a set. I just changed my strings tonight and WOW what a difference. I will be using the NYXL now for sure. I think the color coding is very easy to use. Needless to say, I like them and they sustain forever. Well worth trying.

Bobby -- b0b here on the forum has them in his steel guitar forum store !!

https://www.steelguitarshopper.com/daddario-nyxl-e9th-standard/ for the standard E9th gauges

https://www.steelguitarshopper.com/daddario-nyxl-c6th-12-70/

Paul Franklins C6th gauges

And there is also a E9th set of Pauls heavier gauges as well - b0b must be out of those because they don't currently show up (NYXL 12/38 PS)

Jagwire advised me that their endorsers are NOT under contract and can use whatever strings they want to use. Jagwire did not know what brand of strings Paul uses but their signature set used Paul's specific string gauges (including a 4th string 15 gauge) I have not yet received a response from D'Addario. In the video describing Paul's and Vince's gear, Paul states he uses D'Addairo strings so that settles it for me. Paul also states his 4th string is a 15 gauge. The D'Addairo NYXL has a 15 gauge 4th string also. To me it is obvious that Paul uses D'Addairo NYXL
