Because of the raised fretboard, control plate, and pro model endplates, I would not consider it a student model. Looks like a rosewood Black Rock, which would be unusual with only one knee lever. Could it be something someone cobbled together from parts? Or perhaps it escaped out the back door in Burlington? Is the changer an E9 or a C6? An interesting guitar. More pix including views of the underside would be nice.

Jack,

I am working on the pics of the underside. It is a rare guitar of some sorts being an 8 string guitar.

Trying to get more information.

I had one of these. 3 + 1. As stated, they have machined end plates, 1/4 in. raised neck, raised machined keyhead and pro tuners. Not a GS student model.

I think the changer is much the same as all p/p's except the fingers are a bit shorter. Otherwise, the mechanics are the same. Obviously the fret board is not original, but it is the same scale.

I would describe these guitars as a pro model 8 string.

The one I had was wood grain just like this, had a typical P/P sound and played just like my old D10 P/P I had several years ago.

Mike Cass might can add more...perhaps Chris Lucker...et. al.

Can't see the mechanics, but the one I had was a production model from the Emmons factory. Not cobbled together or a "built from parts" guitar.

I would have kept the one I had, but I wanted to add levers. P/P parts are dear, so I just re-sold it rather than trying to acquire everything I thought I wanted.

In retrospect, I should have just kept it and played it like it was. Fun little 8 stringers.

I think I have a photo if you would like me to post it for comparison...can do.

Hi Jerry!

Great hearing from you and sure, it would be nice to have a comparison photograph.

On the initial posting, I wasn't aware that it was an 8 string guitar. As is, I think it would be a great "Mooney" sounding Axe.

I am awaiting additional photos of the underside. Will post as I receive them.

Again, thanks for your additional and educational commentary.

Charley

This is the one I had. Mechanics appear to be same as other P/P's. This one had the butterfly Klusons.

Good luck with the sale.

A marvel to see one so well kept, seldom played? This would make a great "gateway" guitar for new player, 6str Xfer ..strange 'paddle' KL still useful. Not beat up or modified to
clutter. Fatback as well. Seldom seen this way. Good Luck!👍

looks like a homemade knee lever . . . . but probably a good little guitar for someone who likes 8 stringers

Looks similar to the later ZB Custom levers.

All single PPs used the C6 changer. I have one like this with the original metal cover Emmons PU
