Here is a live solo tab with links to videos.
This is a nice counterpoint line that Paul uses on the 5 in one solo, and in a different version, as a verse fill, on the tonic moving to the 4.
These are two live renditions of "If You're Gonna Do Me Wrong" from The Time Jumpers featuring Dawn Sears.
At Station Inn. Solo at 3:45, tab at 4:02:

From TV appearance. Fill at 39 seconds:

The song is in Ab. I've written it in G for simplicity. On the solo, I use "G lever" to denote raising the first string a whole step for unisons. The unisons releasing to major 2nds are very effective on strings 1/3, and 1/4 with C pedal.
Comments welcome.
Enjoy.

Here is the same music, with tab to play down an octave.
Anything worth learning can be transposed to different registers.
If your guitar has the lever to raise 7 a whole tone, the descending unison line plays surprisingly well on strings 6-7. I think this is easier to play than the upper octave.
Cheers,
John

John, nice stuff! Thanks for sharing it.
On the first version, landing on the C chord in measure 2 - I think the tab should show AB pedals down for that C chord, no? _________________ Tom Dillon

Tom, yes, I omitted the AB on the tab, an obvious one.
Found another great emotional solo, where Paul uses this line in Bartenders Blues, at 2:32. Solo starts at 2:12. Key of C.

I don't mean to make it sound like he repeats himself very often. As a matter of fact, he seems to have a huge repertoire and a constant flow of ideas. I just noticed this one again. It is worth noting how such an accomplished player can use an idea in a variety of ways.
More experienced players may know the origins of this counterpoint lick. If he didn't invent it, he sure knows how to use it.
