True story-

I recently played a gig and we played a cover of a song from a relatively well known studio recording.

When we ended the song, there was no applause. The small audience continued their quiet table chit-chat and dinner activities.

One of the guys in the band turned to us and quietly said “See? It sounds just like the record.”

Your band member was turning their indifference into a compliment, I guess. Wonderful person!

You could've played the live version with the applause track instead....

Nothing unusual about that. Everytime I play a solo the audience always gives me a squatting ovation.

For those old enough to remember the commercial
"When EF Hutton talks, people listen."

My remark in these situations was, "Did EF Hutton Just Say Something"

Sheesh, I think of that as a relatively recent commercial. Now Ipana toothpaste, Phillip Morris cigarettes, "See the USA in your Chevrolet", THOSE I have to think back for!

(I can't help growing older, but I refuse to grow up! Laughing )
