Looks like a about a 12-inch piece of some semi-stretchy yellowish plastic stuff. Don't know if it's original or not, but the 500K AB pot appears to be.

Hey Jack,

Email me your address and I will send you a piece of the same string being used in modern volume pedals. It is what we use in the Goodrich pedals.

The new Goodrich string has been installed. Pleased to report the old Sho-Bud pedal again operates perfectly.
