David Letterman was impressed with the steel guitar and Robby Turner. Listen to what Letterman said about the steel guitar at the end.

Nice. I'm impressed with Stapleton's voice.
And that's a pretty Show Pro. _________________ Roger Rettig - Emmons D10s, Quilter TT-12, B-bender Teles and old Martins.

Just to make a little correction (he actually corrected me a couple of weeks ago).
Robbie Turner is actually Robby Turner.
And a GREAT picker and friend

I remember this from back then. Chris and Co. did good.
Robby plays great of course and it's always cool to see pedal steel on national broadcasts.
Letterman, well what can you say. Can't pay much attention to some of his comments, although I have heard him compliment the steel guitar a few times on his program. I sorta believe he really is fond of it and it was nice for Dave to recognize him and his playing.
I think he said "We gotta get one of those Paul". Wonder how that made Sid McGinnis feel? He'd been playing pedal steel for years including many spots on the Letterman show as staff guitarist. |
