Hi,

To celebrate Lloyd Green's 80th birthday I'd like to share my transcription of his beautiful composition "Hogan's Dream" from the Revisited album (available for purchase via iTunes or streaming via Spotify).

I would like to thank Lloyd for his approval of my sharing this transcription, and I look forward to hearing more of his great performances in the upcoming years.

Below you find a link to a PDF document with my transcription:

Best regards,

-- Jan

Two years after my earlier attempt at this composition, and having gained a little more E9th insight, I am now ready to present an alternative transcription. This version highlights more use of the C pedal and 2nd string lower (and combinations thereof), and is probably yet another step closer to what Lloyd actually plays.

The transcription will be available shortly in the repository on Walter Stettner's tribute web site, but in the meantime you can download the document from here:

Best regards,

Thanks a bunch Jan for your hard work and time. Surprisingly, I just now discovered this post. I've been transcribing on it as well lately. There is a good version of Lloyd playing it on YouTube (if you haven't seen this one) 1993 ISGC Lloyd Green where you can see his bar movements and a little of his knees. This helps a bunch if you haven't seen it. It is slightly different than the Revisited cut, but it is excellent! It is the 3rd song at about 14:05 minutes into the set. There is another set I've just found on YouTube also it is the 1995 ISGC version and his knees are seen very good on much of the song. It is also one of the few on YouTube where I've found an actual video, the others are just pictures accompanying the music. Let me know if you've discovered a different video. Thanks again for your work.

I have a good rhythm track for "Hogans Dream". as played on Lloyd's Revisited cut. Be happy to share with anyone who wants it. just let me know. Jan Jonsson did a great job on his tab for this beautiful music...Jan has a great ear for capturing Lloyd's beautiful steel guitar licks. Jan has a lot of tablature for Lloyd's music...and there all great. Jan i know that you put a lot of time in your work...and i want to say thank you very much. I really appreciate all that you do to help steel pickers on this great forum.

Bill. Smile
