I have been playing for 39 years, and I still refer to Dick's tabs to help me. Never too late to go and learn and re learn from time to time. Just in case there is something you might have missed.

I'm not a great player, but I do like to experiment on the E9th neck. And I love to share what I discover, new or not. It does my heart good to know something I penned, was useful in some way.

I believe we should spend time searching for something new, fresh and never or rarely played before.

I think... "Pedal Steel Guitar=The Discovery Machine"

Get in there and discover something today!

Dick, Hal Higgins told me once that we never fully master the steel, there are many different ways of playing a song.
That there is no exact true way to play the song. Everyday when we sit down behind it there is something new to figure out. BTW Dick I am no great player either.

Very true! As much excellent instructional material that is out there, sometimes you just have to figure things out on your own.

The first tab in your post hit home for me, because I recently "discovered" a way to play a full major scale over two octaves using only the A pedal. Finding out what can be done with just 10 strings and a bar made me appreciate the value of the changers even more.

Hello Ron and John...

I'm completely old school. I use a word processor, Libre Office. It is free and Open Source. I first made a 10 line staff, 5 to a page in 10 or 12 pitch, several years ago, saved and then recall that to enter tab. The word processor allows me to save the file in either a word doc or pdf file. This is real handy.

I also print out a few staff pages so I can jot down ideas on the fly if the mood or idea hits me.

I have looked at a couple of the available programs for tabbing, but this works for me.

The last tabs above, were entered directly into the forum page and took very little manipulation to make it look good.

Note: If I enter a page of tab in my word processor, then copy and past it into the Forum Page, it sometimes takes a little time to get everything to line up. Not so much if you use the coding...
